Safety & Comfort Are So Boring

Playing it safe and being comfortable is too mundane for me, which is why I resort mostly to risk in my financial & social lives.

If you do what everybody else is doing, you will simply end up like everybody else.

I will never forget the sweater I purchased from a store in Riyadh when I was 12 years old. The sweater contained a phrase in block letters that read “NO RISK - NO FUN,” a phrase that has since then been fed into my subconscious.

Taking risks is fun. It ignites and releases chemicals in my brain that make me feel alive which, now that I think about it, explains why people who overly play it safe and by the books often look so dead inside. My mom used to read Chicken Soup for The Soul to me and my brother growing up, so that might also be the reason. Anyway..

The risks I take are only within the realms of my social life and finances. It explains why I worked in crypto, and why the things I post online can be susceptible to backlash.

But that’s just me. I don’t do safe and comfortable.
