This week I met with the Hawa team, visited the new Six Flags on the outskirts of Riyadh (where I then found this 2012 tweet of mine!), went to the Kalamashii office where we discussed the new sphere of ultra-local Saudi content, fist-bumped a handful of twenty-somethings at the gym who refer to me as ‘Abu 3angri’ (I assume they’ve watched my TikToks) and as I was typing these words on the patio of KAFD’s Toby’s Estate a bird pooped directly onto my laptop’s trackpad, but thankfully the two Saudi girls sitting next to me who have been chainvaping for the past hour did not notice. I love Riyadh this time of year, and I’m so glad I’m not a social climber (anymore).
