Things we don't see much of anymore. Saudi edition
A list of some of the things I grew up seeing in Riyadh that have deemed nonexistent, for its good and bad.
Dressing up to the airport
Going to the airport through the OG Tanfeethi lounge before it was commercialized used to feel like going to someone’s house. Since the lounge was free of charge and only exclusive to a pre-approved list of people, it really felt like a 3azima. And because comfort wasn’t the number one priority, people would dress up to go to the airport. We used to give the airport more hype that it needed, likely because travel wasn’t as cheap and ubiquitous than it is today, a time where I am guilty of wearing sweatpants to the airport (and not going through the Tanfeethi lounge). People do not dress up to the airpot anymore, and it is turning more and more into a casual setting.
